When you’re choosing the best electric cordless screwdriver for your DIY toolkit, it’s important to consider how, and how often you’ll use it. It doesn’t make sense to pay for a top of the range piece of kit you hardly use. Conversely, if you plan on using it every weekend for all sorts of jobs, a top of the range piece of kit could be the ideal solution.
In this guide, we’ll be looking at some of the best selling cordless electric screwdrivers on Amazon in an effort to help you make a wise and informed decision on which cordless screwdriver to buy.
Below you’ll find a quick comparison table featuring three of our favourites at different price-points.
1) HANMATEK Cordless Screwdriver
Budget-conscious occasional DIYers looking for a versatile electric screwdriver should check out this option. It’s a decent choice for somebody used to using a manual screwdriver but wants to get the job done just that wee bit quicker and without fuss (and blisters).
Like most electric screwdrivers, there’s a built-in function that lets you change the rotation so you can screw and unscrew screws to your heart’s content.
The handle of the machine can be twisted 90 degrees so the screwdriver adopts a gun shape should you prefer to use it that way. If not, stay with the traditional cylindrical screwdriver shape.
It’s powerful enough to manage most lightweight jobs around the home such as building flatpack furniture, fitting a kitchen and putting up shelves. It’s fully rechargeable, taking between three and five hours to go from flat to full. And comes with a pack of 10 screwdriver bits for you to use.
Main features of this Hanmatek Cordless Screwdriver
- Rotatable handle to use inline or pistol-style
- Maximum voltage – 3.6
- Maximum torque 3Nm
- 1 x 1300 Ah Lithium-ion battery
- LED light for lighting up dark areas
- Reverse rotation
- 10 screwdriver bits
- Recharge using a micro USB cable
2) Black & Decker CS3653LC Cordless Screwdriver
Black & Decker’s a brand many DIYers are familiar with. This stylish black and orange electric screwdriver is a good mid-range option if you have a little more in your budget or you see yourself using the tool more often.
It can be used in the traditional manual screwdriver shape or twisted 90 degrees to the more usual gun shape of an electric screwdriver (pistol or inline, is how Black &Decker describe it).
It’s powered by one 1.5 Ah Lithium-Ion battery, which once fully charged, can hold that charge for up to 18 months when left idle.
The built-in LED light lightens up dark corners and recesses so you can always see what you’re doing.
The lack of accessories lets down this machine. It comes with a pack of five bits. Which is enough to do most of the lightweight jobs you’ll need it for.CHECK PRICE
3) Bosch Pushdrive Cordless Screwdriver
The previous two electric screwdrivers we’ve looked at have the ability to change shape to suit the user. You could use them in the gun or manual screwdriver style. This one, the Bosch PushDrive, can only be used inline. There is no shapeshifting going on here.
This one also works differently to the other two. There’s a clue in the name – PushDrive. Instead of pressing a switch to start operating the screwdriver (like you would with the Hanmatek or Black & Decker), you push it up against the screw you want to drive and add a little pressure to get things moving.
Manual mode is another feature only available on this device. So, if needs be, you can switch to manual mode at any time.
The Bosch is a bit heavier than the other two, it comes packaged with a wide range of bits (32 in all) and a convenient storage box to keep everything together.CHECK PRICE
